WHAT IS FUCIDIN FUSIDIC ACID 2% CREAM
Fucidin Cream contains Fusidic Acid 2% (aka Sodium Fusidate 2 %) and used to treat a number of bacterial skin infections. Fucidin cream Fusidic Acid 2% is used to treat skin infections caused by bacteria, in particular, staphylococcal bacteria. These may include the following – Impetigo, Infected hair follicles (folliculitis), Skin infection around the nails (paronychia), Infected eczema, Infected wounds. Fucidin cream with Fusidic Acid 2% can be used in adults and children.
Fucidin cream contains the active ingredient Fusidic Acid 2%. The Fucidin ointment contains sodium fusidate, which is the sodium salt of the fusidic acid. Fusidic acid is a type of component called an antibiotic. Fusidic acid 2% works by preventing bacteria from producing proteins that are essential to them. Without these proteins, the bacteria cannot grow, replicate, and increase in numbers. Fusidic acid doesn’t directly kill the bacteria but leaves them unable to increase in numbers. The remaining bacteria eventually die or are destroyed by the immune system. This clears up the infection.
HOW TO USE FUCIDIN FUSIDIC ACID 2% CREAM
Wash hands before applying the Fucidin cream Fusidic Acid 2%. The cream should be applied gently to the infected area three or four times a day, as directed by your dermatologist. Follow the instructions given by your dermatologist. Wash your hands also after applying the Fucidin cream Fusidic Acid 2%. Apply the cream every day for as long as your dermatologist has prescribed it. Unless your dermatologist tells you otherwise, it is important that you finish the prescribed course of this anti-inflammatory cream Fucidin cream Fusidic Acid 2%, even if it seems the infection has cleared up. Stopping the course early increases the chance that the infection will come back and that the bacteria will grow resistant to the antibiotic.
Don’t use Fucidin Cream if you are allergic to fusidic acid, sodium fusidate or any of the other ingredients. If you know you have specific allergies, always check the ingredients of the medicine before using it. Fucidin cream and ointment can be safely used during pregnancy and breastfeeding because fusidic acid is not absorbed through the skin in significant amounts, but better to ask your dermatologist for further advice. If you’re breastfeeding you should avoid applying Fucidin on or near your breasts. If you need to apply Fucidin to your breasts you should wash it off thoroughly before giving a feed. HOW TO USE FUCIDIN FUSIDIC ACID 2% CREAM ON ACNE
Fucidin cream with Fusidic Acid 2% is an antimicrobial antibiotic that was first used as a topical solution in the 1940s. Originally, Fucidin was used to treat all kinds of bacterial skin infections, burn, and infections in wounds. Fusidic acid has been discovered lately that Fucidin is effective in treating acne and eczema as well. Fucidin works because acne forms when follicles are blocked and bacteria grow. The fusidic acid in Fucidin cream penetrates the infected layer and kills bacteria.
To use Fucidin Fusidic acid 2% cream as an acne treatment agent you have to follow these steps. Firstly wash the infected area with a good water-based face wash. Be sure to dry the skin well. This is important to keep the bacteria from spreading to other areas, especially if your acne lesions are open. Then apply a thin layer to the infected area after washing. Repeat the application three to four times a day, as directed by your dermatologist. Repeat the procedure of washing, drying and then applying Fucidin cream until the infected area clears up, or for up to 10 days, depending on your dermatologist’s instructions. Continue to use Fucidin as long as your dermatologist instructs; the medication is like an oral antibiotic in that it can cause symptoms to clear faster than the causative infection. If you stop taking Fucidin before the dermatologist instructed, your acne may recur. Be sure to keep the Fucidin cream away from your eyes.
