What is Capixyl Hair Growth Serum Bontress®
Bontress Hair Serum contains Capixyl, Anagain and Hexaplant Richter that stimulates the growth of hair along with the prevention of hair loss, provides fuller, thicker and healthier hair, and eyelashes. Reduces inflammation in the scalp. Its mechanism of action is modulating DHT and reducing hair follicle damage. This lotion has been used by adult men suffering from male pattern hair loss (MPHL), and it has also been used by patients affected by seasonal hair loss. Menopausal women have even used it for its therapeutic effects on the hair.
After a 4 month period, anagen hair density noticeably increases, and the length of hair follicles also increases. These positive effects are due to blocking the activity of 5-alpha-reductase, which can reduce the formation of DHT (the hormone responsible for causing thinning of the hair). It also helps to triggers the synthesis of ECM proteins in the follicles, which help increase the strength of the follicles, leading to improved hair anchoring, and stronger, thicker hair.
The main ingredient of Bontress Hair Serum is Capixyl™ Hair Fertilizer. It is a Biomimetic signal peptide with red clover extract rich in Biochanin A. Capixyl preserves hair follicle stem cell (HFSC) activity, modulates DHT via 5-α reductase activity inhibition, stimulates ECM renewal, and anchoring proteins synthesis, and decreases pro-inflammatory cytokines.
Intense technological development in aesthetic medicine and cosmetology has caused an ever-increasing demand for the introduction of substances that activate the natural mechanisms of the skin. Peptides are one of these substances, which stimulate the natural repair and regeneration mechanisms of our body and can even help skin and hair treatments.
What is Capixyl, the main ingredient of Bontress® Hair Serum
Capixyl is a blend of a peptide, acetyl tetrapeptide-3 (and) extract of red clover. You’d be forgiven for thinking that these are about face creams than hair growth, after all, acetyl tetrapeptide-3 is often marketed as a skin conditioner. As for red clover, it is full of isoflavones, compounds that have antioxidant properties. Well, it is big on one in particular called biochanin A, which is classified as a phytoestrogen. One thing that biochanin A is good at is inhibiting 5-alpha-reductase. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) – It causes hair loss by shortening the growth cycle, producing progressively shorter and finer hair. DHT is formed by the action of 5-alpha-reductase on testosterone. So keeping 5-alpha-reductase in check is a good thing and biochanin A, does a much better job (according to a study) at this than the potent antioxidant EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) found in tea.
Red clover has another isoflavone compound, formononetin, which has been shown to inhibit the activation of the protein caspase-8 and decrease the caspase-9 expression and help hair regrowth. Acetyl tetrapeptide-3. One of the other side effects of this hormone is loss of connective tissue integrity surrounding the hair follicle, plus there is an increase of inflammation and oxidative stress in the scalp. Acetyl tetrapeptide-3 stimulates extracellular matrix proteins reinforcing the structures surrounding hair follicles, this provides the hair with a firmer anchor and reduces damage to it.
Acetyl tetrapeptide-3 boosts type III collagen synthesis, as well as collagen VII, a major constituent of the anchoring fibrils located in the basement membrane (DEJ) around the hair papilla. Acetyl tetrapeptide-3 is supposed to lengthen the hair shaft and increase follicle length by 35% after only eight days of treatment.
Although Capixyl has been around for a couple of years and won an industry award not long ago, it hasn’t made it into haircare primetime. I believe this is because it is an expensive ingredient and claims about its effectiveness are restricted as the FDA has only cleared minoxidil for hair growth. This could change.
