What is Diclofenac Diclotas® gel
Diclofenac topical (for the skin) is used to treat joint pain caused by osteoarthritis, is for use on the knees, hands, wrists, elbows, ankles, or feet. This medicine may not be effective in treating arthritis pain elsewhere in the body. Diclotas gel is used to treat warty overgrowths of skin (actinic keratoses) on sun-exposed areas of the body. Diclofenac topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Main ingredients of Diclofenac Diclotas® gel
Diclotas gel contains also the following ingredients:
Linseed oil 3% – Seed of the flax plant, containing omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and lignans (beneficial plant compounds, similar to fiber). Eases symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and Raynaud’s phenomenon. Lubricates joints and lessens stiffness and joint pain. Lowers total cholesterol and reduces the risk of heart disease and some types of cancer. Improves hot flashes and dry skin.
Flaxseed is high in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a type of omega-3 fatty acid that can be converted to EPA and DHA (the active ingredients in fish oil). Flaxseed is a good source of fiber. Omega-3 fatty acids which is a main element of linseed are known anti-inflammatories.
Methyl Salicylate 10% – is used to treat minor aches and pains of the muscles/joints (e.g., arthritis, backache, sprains). Menthol and methyl salicylate are known as counterirritants. They work by causing the skin to feel cool and then warm. These feelings on the skin distract you from feeling the aches/pains deeper into your muscles, joints, and tendons.
Menthol 5% – Topical analgesic, Menthol has local anesthetic and counterirritant qualities, and it is widely used to relieve minor throat irritation. Menthol can help soothe muscle in joint pain temporarily, in many areas of the body and for many ailments. Some things it can help with are low back pain, arthritis, delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).
