Description

The mechanism of action of Agefine Forte® Tablets

Glutathione consists of mainly three amino acids, cysteine, glutamate, and glycine. Cysteine has -SH bonds that are at redox state are the main components in the glutathione molecule. Glutathione is located in mitochondria of a human body cell in a redox state which is GSH. Once the body exposed to oxidative stress, these GSH are doubled and make GSSG, which are oxidized states. Therefore the body can tolerate oxidative stress from Reactive Oxygen Species ( ROS ) like hydroxyl ions, nitrite ions.

The alpha-lipoic acid or thioctic acid or ALA is a sulfur-containing organic compound that can be found in plants, animals, and even in humans. ALA is a mitochondria based molecule which also has a good antioxidant capability. Alpha-lipoic acid with glutathione combination shows more bioavailability.

Why use Agefine Forte® Tablets?

Glutathione is very famous for its detoxification capability as working as a prominent molecule in cell plasma membranes. Alcohol, cadmium exposure, and even in HIV/AIDS also glutathione helps to reduce toxic products from cells. They used mainly four mechanisms that glutathione combine with these toxins to produce glutathione-sulfur conjugate.

The depletion of GSH levels is considered the main feature in cell damage. Researches show that aging, chronic degenerative diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s disease are strongly associated with a reduced level of glutathione in brain cells. As well as in chronic inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis is co-existence with reduced levels of GSH. Therefore glutathione is considered a very important substance. Pharmaceutical companies widely produce anti-aging products that have glutathione as it’s the main ingredient.

Glutathione is very much helpful for smokers and patients with cystic fibrosis. Smokers tend to expose more oxidative stress because of the harmful chemicals from tobacco. As well as people with cystic fibrosis shows less amount of glutathione in their lung alveoli. Therefore using glutathione supplements is considered to give positive health benefits for them.

Alpha-lipoic acid is having scavenging ability as well as a metal cheating function. This is very helpful in detoxifying heavy metals like mercury. And also it is very helpful in conserving the glutathione pool in body cells. ALA is famous for its antioxidant properties as it helps to reduce oxidative stress that occurs from nitric oxide, hydrogen peroxide.

ALA is considered an effective treatment for diabetes. Diabetes is one of the commonest NCD in the world. About 430 million of the world population is affected by diabetes. Diabetes is responsible for carbohydrates, lipid, and protein metabolism derangements. Newer studies show that diabetes is responsible for the derangement of the antioxidant capability of body cells. Therefore it facilitates atherosclerosis leading to heart diseases and certain other chronic conditions. Not only because of the antioxidant ability and also ALA is found to behave improve insulin sensitivity in skeletal muscles. Thereby cells can increase the uptake of glucose and blood sugar levels become low.

ALA shows a positive effect on neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s disease. In Alzheimer’s patients develop beta-amyloid plaques as a response to the chronic inflammatory process. ALA can reduce the progression of the disease. And also it is a very good substitute for earlier treatments like NSAIDs because they are very famous to cause gastric irritation. Therefore using ALA can overcome this limitation. ALA also shows improving acetylcholine levels in synapses. This also considered as ALA is one of the best drugs for neurodegenerative diseases.

Alpha-lipoic acid is considered an effective treatment for anticancer therapy. Cancer cells are using aerobic glycolysis to generate energy. Lactate is produced as a product in glycolysis. The accumulation of lactate facilitates cancer cell regeneration. ALA can activate pyruvate dehydrogenase in cancer cells. This pyruvate dehydrogenase can convert pyruvate to acetyl CoA which stops the production of lactate. So the cancer cell progression rate slows down. Therefore ALA is now considered as an adjuvant anti-cancer medication. ALA is also capable of producing ROS in cancer cells. Therefore it improves cancer cell apoptosis. And also studies performed on breast cancer cells showed that ALA can inhibit migration and invasion of metastatic cancer cells.
ALA vaginal tablets based study on pregnant rats shows that inserting ALA vaginally can reduce the frequency of preterm births. ALA is effectively absorbed in vaginal mucosa and it can revert the effect of mifepristone and prostaglandin E2. This is the basis of reducing preterm births.

Vitamin C or ascorbic acid is a water-soluble vitamin that is unable to produce in the human body. Therefore it needs to be taken outside as a supplement. Vitamin C is a well-known antioxidant, a co-factor for collagen synthesis, helpful in carnitine and catecholamine biosynthesis, and also it facilitates dietary iron absorption. Vitamin C is very important in elderly people, patients with gastrointestinal problems like inflammatory bowel disease, chronic smokers, patients with food allergies, people who are taking high fat-containing foods, and people with liver diseases.

How to use it L-Glutathione supplements?

Glutathione supplements are effective when using 50 – 600 mg once daily dose. There are no special instructions on using these tablets. But it would be more effective if you take a tablet before the main meal. That would be better to absorb dietary iron as vitamin c helps iron absorption.

Contraindications of L-Glutathione supplements?

There are no known severe adverse reactions with glutathione supplements. But there are known cases that inhaled glutathione can exaggerate asthma who has past history of wheezing. Therefore it’s better to take medical advice from your health care provider if you have asthma. As with most of the other medications, glutathione is not recommended in pregnancy and breastfeeding. There are no human studies to confirm its harmful effects. But it’s better safe to avoid these drugs in the above mentioned periods.
