It is a 3-way topical acne treatment gel with the following active components:

  • Clindamycin 1% – is a lincosamide antibiotic. It is used on the skin to stop the growth of certain bacteria that cause acne;
  • Niacinamide 4% – improves skin texture and strengthen the protective barrier function of the skin, which then helps to reduce inflammation – often appearing as dry, irritated, or flaky skin. It does so by increasing natural lipids found on the skin surface and reducing water loss;
  • Allantoin 0.5% – is a moisturizer to treat or prevent dry, rough, scaly, itchy skin and minor skin irritations. Emollients are substances that soften and moisturize the skin and decrease itching and flaking.

What is Top-C® Gel

While niacinamide is very effective at addressing acne and fine lines when used alone it is given a boost when combined with clindamycin. Clindamycin is an antibiotic that targets the inflammation and redness that accompany inflammatory acne. Like tretinoin, clindamycin can be very effective against acne when used alone. Top-C gel combined clindamycin and niacinamide to enhance efficacy and to make it a cost-effective option for patients. That means more effective treatment with two power-house ingredients for a lower cost.

Niacinamide is the closest thing in skincare to a cure-all! Tip-C gel is combined with niacinamide to help with inflammation, reduce redness, and prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Many acne-fighting medications like clindamycin can cause dryness and irritation. Niacinamide helps soothe and calm the skin so you look your best while your treatments get to work busting those breakouts.

Allantoin – moisturizes, soothes itchiness, and heals injured skin. In general, those with dry, itchy skin looking for better skin texture and smoothness, regardless of skin type, age, or conditions. Allantoin, also known as aluminum dihydroxy allantoinate, is an extract from the comfrey plant, which is native to temperate climates of Asia and Europe. It has potent healing and soothing properties, and for centuries comfrey leaves were used to help heal minor skin injuries and swelling. Additionally, it can be found in a variety of plants such as beets, chamomile, and wheat sprouts, and even tobacco seeds.
