Pure Salicylic Peel

Salicylic Acid Chemical Peel 20% / 30%

(3 customer reviews)

From USD $58.00

Salicylic acid is a very popular beta-hydroxy acid used in many anti-acne and anti-aging products. It is a very effective pore cleanser and a peeling agent due to its lipophilic chemistry.

Because salicylic acid is fat-soluble, it is able to penetrate sebum filled follicles and clogged pores. This makes it an ideal agent for acne-prone skin.

This peel is stronger than lactic acid. It is more gentle than glycolic acid and less irritating due to its anti-inflammatory effect. However, it causes the skin to peel much much and for a longer period after application. Other peels are much more gradual. Stronger strength peel is a deeper exfoliation, perfect for acne and mature skin. It’s recommended that you start at a lower percentage unless you are an experienced user of Salicylic Acid. Medium strength peel used for all skin types and if you have never done a peel before and you decide to start with a Salicylic Acid peel (and if you have sensitive skin). You should begin with the lowest strength and you can even dilute it with distilled water and work your way up to the higher percentages. If you have experience with salicylic acid peels and have normal skin, then you might choose to use the higher percentages. This peel will give the same results as the stronger peels but is a more gradual peel.

Used For: Acne, Acne Scars, Blackheads/Whiteheads, Dry Skin, Sun-damaged Skin, Blotchy Pigmentation, Fine Wrinkles, Loss of Elasticity, Large Pores, Bumps, Rosacea, Age Spots/Dark Spots, Seborrheic Keratosis, Hyperkeratosis, and Actinic keratosis.

Description

What is Salicylic 20%, 30% Peel

A potent salicylic chemical peel is manufactured by a high-quality K Derma, it comes in a 50ml bottle amber or transparent. When used in higher concentrations in chemical peels (20%-30%), salicylic acid helps control acne breakouts, reduces discoloration, improves sun-damaged skin, and results in an overall healthier-looking appearance. In addition to that, salicylic peels also provide the typical anti-aging effect, similar to glycolic peels. Overall, salicylic acid-based peels are perfect for people with oily and acne-prone skin.

A chemical peel is a technique used to improve and smooth the texture of the skin. Facial skin is mostly treated, and scarring can be improved. Chemical peels are intended to remove the outermost layers of the skin. To accomplish this task, the chosen peel solution induces a controlled injury to the skin. Resulting in wound healing processes beginning to regenerate new tissues. The dead skin eventually peels off. The regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. It is strongly advised to seek professional help from a dermatologist, aesthetician, or plastic surgeon on a specific type of chemical peel before a procedure is performed.

Salicylic acid peels are treatments used to deeply exfoliate the surface layers of the skin. Salicylic acid breaks the bonds that hold the skin’s cells together, causing them to shed away or peel. As the skin regenerates, it is rejuvenated. Compared to other types of chemical peels, salicylic acid gives a gentle exfoliating action. Superficial salicylic acid peels can be done at home, with over-the-counter products. Stronger salicylic acid peels that penetrate more deeply are performed at the salon or the dermatologist’s office.

Salicylic Acid resides deep in the heart of Willow Bark (and other plants) and is a highly effective peeling agent and an excellent pore cleanser with anti-wrinkle and anti-acne properties. It works by gently removing old cells from the skin allowing it to be replaced with healthy skin; boosts collagen production and in turn, balances oil production (less acne and blemishes); and lessens the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Salicylic Acid is less irritating than other acid peels like glycolic acid because it has an anti-inflammatory effect. This acid is able to penetrate the oily material blocking pores and flush it out. Unlike Glycolic and Lactic Acids which are gradual peels, using a Salicylic peel will cause visible peeling that can last up to 3 days, which some people actually prefer.

One of the major properties of salicylic acid is its ability to remove skin cells of the most upper layer of the skin, the stratum corneum. This keratolytic effect is dependent on the concentration of salicylic acid used in a cream. For example, a concentration of 10 – 15% salicylic acid shows a keratolytic effect already after 2 or 3 days. At 5% and 1%, desquamation of skin cells is seen after 7 and 10 days, respectively. Hence, salicylic acid is widely used as a major ingredient for peelings or other exfoliant or abrasive skin treatments. Such peeling products contain salicylic acid usually at concentrations between 0.5 – 3%. Whereas the upper limit of 30% is applied only in dermatological (prescription) products, the use of salicylic acid at this level has also been recommended for face masks. For anti-warts, and corn/callus products salicylic acid is usually used between 12 – 40%.

Besides removing old cells and horny debris from the skin, keratolysis has also the advantage that it facilitates the penetration of other active ingredients into the skin. Salicylic acid is therefore often added to skincare products that contain active ingredients in order to increase their absorption and efficacy.

Used For: Acne, Acne Scars, Blackheads/Whiteheads, Dry Skin, Sun-damaged Skin, Blotchy Pigmentation, Fine Wrinkles, Loss of Elasticity, Large Pores, Bumps, Rosacea, Age Spots/Dark Spots, Seborrheic Keratosis, Hyperkeratosis, and Actinic keratosis.

Note about Retin-A:  If you are using Retin-A cream/gel please do not use them on the same days that you use chemical peel products and most definitely do not mix them with chemical peel products. This will irritate your skin badly! It will cause extreme itching and redness along with peeling. Retin-A makes the skin very sensitive to the sun and to chemical peel products. Tretinoin exfoliates/peels the skin on its own. You can use Retin-A daily and do a weekly chemical peel but do not use Retin-A the day of your peel.

What acids are used for Chemical peel? A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is helpful for those individuals with facial blemishes, wrinkles, and uneven skin pigmentation. Chemical peels have been around for centuries. Cleopatra and the ancient Romans used various food acids to peel their skin. Lactic acid, an active ingredient of sour milk, was used topically as part of an ancient skin rejuvenation regimen. It is said that Cleopatra, Queen of Ancient Egypt, took bathes of asses’ milk to preserve the beauty and youth of her skin. Old wine was used for the same purpose, tartaric acid being the active ingredient.

Today there are lots of different acids used in different strengths and combinations to improve skin problems. Below are some common acids used alone or combined (with each other and/or fruit acids like citric acid or ascorbyl acid “vitamin C”):

  • Lactic Acid (Strengths: 50% – 70% Duration of Peel: 5-15min)
  • Glycolic Acid (Strengths: 15% – 50% Duration of Peel: 5-15min)
  • Salicylic Acid (Strengths: 20% – 30% Duration of Peel: 5-20min)
  • TCA Acetic Acid (Strengths: 15% – 30% Duration of Peel: 5-15min)
  • Phenol (Strengths: 30%-55% Duration of Peel: 1-2hrs)

Benefits of Salicylic 20%/30% Peel

Many skin types can benefit from salicylic acid peels. And, because they are fairly gentle peels, salicylic acid can be used by people who aren’t good candidates for other types of peels.

Immediately following a salicylic acid peel, you’ll notice your skin feels softer and smoother. Salicylic acid peels can brighten your complexion. They also will give your skin a better texture and make large pores look smaller.

Salicylic acid peels are particularly helpful for treating acne and blackheads. Salicylic acid is a strong comedolytic, which means it helps unclog pores. It also helps decrease the amount of oil on the skin. Regular salicylic acid peels can help improve both inflammatory acne and comedonal acne.

Salicylic acid peels are also used as anti-aging peels. While they can’t erase deep lines and wrinkles, they can soften fine lines and give your complexion a boost. It is especially good at treating sun damage too.

A series of salicylic acid peel treatments can fade dark spots and discolorations like melasma, freckles, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (the discoloration that is left behind after a pimple heals).

How to use / Instructions: Salicylic Peel 20%/30%

  • Prepare a neutralizing solution with 2 tbsp of baking soda and 1 cup of water in a small bowl. This solution will be used to deactivate the peel.
  • Clean your skin thoroughly and rinse well. Wipe rubbing alcohol over your face to remove all oil. Allow airing to dry.
  • Apply a thick and even layer of salicylic acid solution with a small brush. Leave a 2mm margin between the edge of your eyes and the peel.
  • Leave the peel on your skin for 2-10 minutes, depending on your tolerance. You can fan your face or use a blow-dryer in a cool setting. For first-time users, do not leave it on for more than 1 minute.
  • Wash your face with the prepared baking soda solution in order to neutralize the peel.
  • Rinse your face with cool water and gently pat it dry. You should feel no stinging at this point. Stinging indicates that the product is still active on your skin, and this can result in a burn.
  • Apply moisturizer as usual. When going out, avoid too much sun exposure and wear sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher.
  • Your face may be slightly red for a day after the peel, but this will quickly fade and you will see the results develop over the next 7 days as the skin sheds off. The shedding process is not usually noticeable, unlike with a stronger peel.
  • This procedure can be repeated every 7-14 days for a series of 5-6 peels

Caution for use: After using the peel, you may experience some sort of tingling or burning in your skin. In a few days, as the skin heals, you may experience redness and peel so don’t forget to wear sunglasses as salicylic acid can make your skin sensitive to developing a sunburn.

Don’t let the unfortunate signs of skin damage and premature aging deprive your skin of its natural beauty and glow. OKdermo is here to help you with its wide range of professionally formulated chemical peels. To find more about our skincare products, visit our website.
