Sodium Lactate is the natural salt derived from a natural fermentation product, lactic acid. It is naturally produced in the skin, also occurs naturally in all animal and human muscle tissue. It is often found in meat and poultry products as a preservative, thanks to its antimicrobial action and ability to inhibit bacteria development, and is also seen in cosmetics and beauty products, especially shampoos and liquid cleansers, as a preservative, buffering agent, pH controlling agent, or exfoliants.

Sodium Lactate is a liquid salt that is naturally derived from the natural fermentation of sugars found in corn and beets. In food, Sodium Lactate may be used as a preservative, acting as an inhibitor of bacteria growth. Because Sodium Lactate is a salt, it is a natural humectant, providing moisture. This makes it a great additive to lotions, typically replacing glycerin in the recipe.

Pyrrolidone carboxylic acid (PCA) is a naturally occurring component of human skin and a plays an important role in maintaining the skin’s moisture level. It attracts moisture from the air and helps contributed a smooth feeling to hair and skin. It can also be derived from plant, fruits, grasses and vegetables so when added to skin care products, it is not irritating even at fairly high concentrations. It is stable in sunlight and is rapidly biodegradable. It has antioxidant properties.

Olive oil is also an antioxidant, so it might help prevent or reverse damage from cancer-causing ultraviolet radiation. It has a very high concentration of an ingredient called squalene as compared to the other types of fats and oils that humans normally eat. The squalene is what gives olive oil the extra antioxidant boost. It moisturizes and fights bacteriaIf you’re prone to acne, using a soap made with olive oil or cream may help decrease your acne by killing off the bacteria that causes the acne. Olive oil is also known to moisturize and hydrate your skin.
