Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic medication that is used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs) caused by certain types of bacteria. Nitrofurantoin is primarily active against gram-negative bacteria such as E. coli, Proteus mirabilis, and Klebsiella pneumonia, and it is not very effective against gram-positive bacteria. Niftran 100mg Capsule is an antibiotic. It works by killing the bacteria in the urine that causes infection.
The drug is available in oral and intravenous formulations, and it is typically taken once or twice a day for a period of 5 to 10 days, depending on the severity of the infection.
