KEY INGREDIENTS OF KOZILITE NON-OILY SKIN LIGHTENING LOTION

Kojic Acid 2% – is a compound that is commonly derived from various fungi. Kojic acid is often used as a skin-lightening agent because of its effects on a protein known as tyrosinase. Kojic acid works by preventing a specific function of tyrosinase called its catecholase function.

Turmeric Extract – Turmeric has a powerful compound called curcumin. This is responsible for most, if not all, of the wonderful benefits turmeric can provide the entire human body. With regard to skin whitening, curcumin effectively resolves hyperpigmentation as well as melanin production. When outside factors cause an increase in melanin production, the ACTH hormone is secreted by the pituitary gland. This hormone supports MC1R, and this is one of the proteins that stimulate melanin production. What curcumin in turmeric does is it restricts the ACTH hormone. This then reduces hyperpigmentation and thus lightens the skin.

Licorice Extract – Licorice is known for its skin brightening properties. The glabridin part of the licorice plant inhibits pigmentation. Licorice extract may help lighten dark spots and even out your skin tone.

Arbutin 1% – The molecule uprooted from the bearberry plant that blocks the development of melanin is known as Arbutin. It works as a skin lightener and one can find it in a variety of things ranging from wheat to pear skins. Arbutin is popular because it acts as a pleasant skin brightener compared to other skin products with the same goal. People with sensitive skin do not need to worry while applying it because the active component from arbutin is freed at a slow rate which makes it less irritating to the skin.

Nicotinamide B3 2% – Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) has been studied in order to identify its benefits to the skin. Studies show that niacinamide is very beneficial when applied topically as well as orally. It possesses anti-aging and rejuvenating effects. It also fades age spots, lightens, and whitens the skin because of its ability to treat hyperpigmentation. Even heat and light do not affect it. It remains potent in formulated products.

Vitamin C – Vitamin C inhibits the enzyme tyrosinase. By doing this, fewer melanin pigments are produced. Studies show that Vitamin C works mainly on pigments surrounding hair follicles. Vitamin C is known to assist in the production of collagen fibers that support your skin and keep it firm. l-Ascorbic Acid or Vitamin C ASA, is a naturally occurring antioxidant that can slow down hyperactive melanocytes in the upper layers of the skin when applied topically.

Glycolic Acid – it causes the dissociation of dead skin cells from the healthy ones also means that it can improve the complexion of the skin.

Lactic Acid – is a natural acid derived from milk, fruit, vegetables, and other plants. It’s found in over-the-counter skin care products used for anti-aging and is also used in chemical peels. With a reputation for being gentler and less irritating than glycolic acid, it also hydrates, increases natural barrier lipids in the outer layer of skin, and lightens and brightens the look of skin for those with discoloration. Mainly, however, lactic acids and other AHAs are used to exfoliate.

Bearberry Extract – Bearberry extract is made from the leaves of the bearberry shrub (whose berries are a favorite food for bears, hence the name). It’s claim to fame? It contains the active agent, arbutin, which naturally lightens and brightens skin. Interestingly, there are 3 types of bearberry shrubs but only the common bearberry, Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (fun fact: the Latin name “uva ursi” actually means, “bear grape”), produces arbutin.

Mulberry Extract – the mulberry plant has been shown to effectively inhibit melanogenesis (melanin production) with possibly a more potent ability than Kojic acid. Clinical trials have found that mulberry root bark extract and leaf extract from the twigs can inhibit tyrosinase activity be as much as 50%. Cosmetics containing white mulberry extract can also improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by helping to restore fibrillin. White mulberry and paper mulberry are both considered suitable for dermatological use. You can read more about white mulberry skin whitening properties here:

Chandan – has skin lightening and skin healing properties.

Wheat Germ Oil –  Amino acids in wheat germ oil will boost collagen production. Therefore, using wheat germ oil for skincare will result in smooth, elastic, wrinkle-free complexion. Fatty acid in wheat germ oil will improve skin condition, enhance cell membranes, and fasten the process of healing tissue damage. Moreover, it will protect skin cells and tissues from further adverse effects. Allantoin in wheat germ oil has a therapeutic effect that can reduce skin inflammation.

Tocopheryl Acetate – is a form of vitamin E, a natural skin-conditioning agent, and antioxidant. It is the ester of acetic acid and tocopherol and is often used as an alternative to pure tocopherol (or undiluted vitamin E) because it is considered more stable and less acidic.

Titanium Dioxide – Titanium Dioxide is a naturally occurring mineral used as a coloring agent, whitener, thickening agent, and sunscreen ingredient in cosmetics and personal care products. Its high refractive index makes it a popular ingredient in whitening formulas because it provides a bright reflection; it is also considered an effective opacifier. It is often found in mineral make-up formulas, as well as whitening and under-eye creams.
