Active components of skin whitening M-Lite Plus® Cream
Tretinoin 0.025% – topical tretinoin is a generic form of acne medication Retin-A. Tretinoin can be purchased online or over-the-counter in cream or gel forms in the same concentration as Retin-A. Tretinoin is a retinoid, meaning it’s a form of vitamin A. Retinoids stimulate cell turnover on your skin. Dead skin cells are cleared off your skin more quickly as new skin cells rise to the surface. Quicker cell turnover opens your pores, releasing trapped bacteria or irritants that are causing your acne. Retinoids like tretinoin also help your skin to regulate its natural oil (sebum) production, which can prevent future breakouts. They also have anti-inflammatory properties, which clear up active acne pustules.
Hydroquinone 2% – is a skin-lightening agent. It bleaches the skin, which can be helpful when treating different forms of hyperpigmentation. Hydroquinone bleaches your skin by decreasing the number of melanocytes present. Melanocytes make melanin, which is what produces your skin tone. In cases of hyperpigmentation, more melanin is present due to an increase in melanocyte production. By controlling these melanocytes, your skin will become more evenly toned over time. It takes about four weeks on average for the ingredient to take effect. It may take several months of consistent use before you see full results. If you don’t see any improvements within three months of OTC use, talk to your dermatologist. They may be able to recommend a prescription-strength formula better suited to your needs.
After using this product continuously for 60 days you’ll need to give your skin a break and stop using the serum for 30 days. Users of hydroquinone can develop resistance if used continuously without a break and also risk developing a condition called Ochronosis which is a permanent darkening of the skin. While this is a rare condition, it’s still important that you pause using any hydroquinone product after 60 days. You can begin re-using the cream after a 30-day break. During the 30 day break, we recommend using natural Azelaic Acid 20% cream/gel to keep the results you achieved with the hydroquinone 2% cream. You can repeat this cycle to keep your skin looking bright and youthful.

How to use Hydroquinone 2% + Tretinoin 0.025% Cream M-Lite Plus®
While using M-Lite Cream, you should:
- Minimize exposure to the sun and to extreme cold or wind. Avoid sunlamps, tanning beds and ultraviolet light.
- Use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15, wear protective clothing and a wide-brimmed hat
- Stop using the cream if you get a sunburn
- Avoid washing your skin too often, scrubbing the affected skin, or using other products with a drying effect, including other products containing tretinoin, unless recommended by your healthcare provider
Before using M-Lite Cream, tell your healthcare provider if you:
- Contact your healthcare provider if you develop itching or rash while using the cream
- Have a skin condition called eczema or a sunburn
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you are pregnant, or plan to become pregnant or to breastfeed
What are the possible side effects of M-Lite Cream?
Skin dryness, burning, redness, excessive flaking or peeling. If you develop these symptoms your healthcare provider may tell you to stop using it for a while, decrease the number of applications, or stop using it completely.
