Hyaron® Prefilled Injection for Osteoarthritis

Hyaron and Hyaron First are the sterile solutions of highly purified viscoelastic Sodium Hyaluronate in phosphate-buffered saline.

Sodium Hyaluronate, an active ingredient of Hyaron and Hyaron First, is a long-chain polymer of repeating disaccharide units of Na-glucuronate-N-acetyl glucosamine. It is a naturally occurring molecule that is found throughout the body, including in the vitreous body and aqueous humor.

Sodium Hyaluronate is similar to a substance that occurs naturally in the joints. It works by acting like a lubricant and shock absorber in the joints and helps the joints to work properly.

Hyaron and Hyaron First are used for the treatment of pain in osteoarthritis (degenerative arthritis) of the knees and shoulders in patients who have failed to respond adequately to conservative nonpharmacologic therapy or simple analgesics (e.g. acetaminophen).

Hyaron and Hyaron First containing Sodium Hyaluronate manufactured by bacterial fermentation are much safer as they are free from the allergic reaction by animal-derived proteins. For the treatment of pain in osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee in patients who have failed to respond adequately to conservative nonpharmacologic therapy or simple analgesics (e.g. acetaminophen).

For initial OA patients, LMW HA (5 cycles) is more effective to minimize the damage to articular cartilage. For intermediate and advanced OA patients, HMW HA (3 cycles) is more effective to relieve inflammation and pain.
