Description
What is Duonase® Nasal Spray (generic Dymista)?
Duonose nasal spray contains Azelastine HCl and Fluticasone Propionate BP, which belongs to a drug class called anti-allergic medications. Allergic reactions may occur when the immune system reacts against foreign substances. The foreign substances that enter the respiratory system may trigger allergic responses, resulting in sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, and a stuffy nose. The foreign substances which enter the body are known as allergens. The immune system of people reacts; differently. The allergens which are allergic to one person will not be allergic to another person. Some people are allergic to certain foods, and also there are instances where people suffer from seasonal allergens. Hay fever, pollens from flowers, and dander from pets are a few examples of seasonal allergens. Sneezing and coughing are two significant reflex actions against allergens.
Azelastine and fluticasone combination nasal spray is used to treat an itchy or runny nose, sneezing, or other symptoms caused by seasonal hay fever (allergic rhinitis).Azelastine is an antihistamine. It works by preventing the effects of a substance called histamine, which is produced by the body. Histamine can cause itching, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. Fluticasone is a steroid (cortisone-like medicine). It works by preventing the inflammation that occurs with allergic reactions.
The two components of Dymista work differently. Azelastine blocks histamine receptors in the body. Histamine is a bodily chemical that is involved in the process of allergic reactions. Fluticasone, on the other hand, is in a class of medications called corticosteroids that reduces swelling (inflammation) in the nasal passages.
Duonose Nasal Spray is a combined product that contains two main medications called Fluticasone propionate and Azelastine hydrochloride. Fluticasone propionate is a corticosteroid that helps in suppressing inflammation. Inflammation occurs as a response to allergic reactions. Azelastine hydrochloride belongs to the drug class called antihistamines. Antihistamines have ant allergic properties.
Corticosteroids act within the nasal cavity and antagonist specific chemical reactions that result in inflammation of the nasal lining. So it helps to get rid of sneezing and nasal congestion. Histamine is the chemical that is responsible for initiating allergic responses. So antihistamines may block the release of histamine from the mast cells. Therefore they stop the allergic reactions. So the Azelastine hydrochloride may help relieve discomfort symptoms that arise due to allergy. This is an over-the-counter medication. Therefore it is no necessary to have a doctor’s prescription to use Duonose Nasal Spray. Take medical advice to know the frequency of the usage.
Generic DYMISTA nasal spray is indicated for the relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in patients 6 years of age and older who require treatment with both azelastine hydrochloride and fluticasone propionate for symptomatic relief. Cheaper alternative to Dymista – Duonase.
