What is Deep Senz® Chronic Pain Ointment?
Deep Senz Ointment is a prescription-strength medicine used for the treatment of neuropathic pain. It interferes with the pain signal transmission through nerves., thereby decreasing the sensation of pain. Deep Senz Ointment is for external use only. It would help if you used this in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Clean and dry the affected area before applying this medicine to the skin. You should always wash your hands after applying it unless your hands are in the affected area.
No major side effects are associated with this medicine, but it can cause some application site burning or irritation. However, these side effects are temporary and usually resolve on their own. Please consult your doctor if these do not subside or bother you.
Deep Senz Ointment is a combination of four medicines: Gabapentin, Capsaicin-Based Rubefacients, Ketoprofen, and Methyl Salicylate.
- Gabapentin is an alpha-2 delta ligand that decreases pain by modulating the calcium channel activity of the nerve cells.
- Capsaicin Based Rubefacients are a plant derivative that activates certain receptors to cause prolonged desensitization of the local pain nerves.
- Ketoprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling).
- Methyl Salicylate is used as a topical analgesic (pain reliever). It works by first cooling the skin and then warming it up. This cooling and warming-up action interferes with the pain signal transmission through nerves.
Together, they relieve neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves).
