What is Burnheal® Cream Silver Nitrate 0.20% + Chlorhexidine 0.20%?
Burnheal Cream is a combination medicine used in the treatment of burns. It works by stopping the growth of microorganisms and killing the existing ones to prevent infection. It may cause itching, irritation, burning sensation at the site of application. Burnheal Cream is a combination of two medicines. It is strictly advised for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Apply it only on the affected areas of the skin. You must wash immediately if there is accidental exposure to it on the eyes or mouth.
Burnheal Cream helps in the prevention and treatment of infections during the treatment of burns. It is also used as an antiseptic in minor cuts and abrasions. It kills infectious microorganisms, reduces inflammation symptoms such as burning sensation, irritation, and pain. This promotes healing of the burns/wounds. Continue using it as directed by the doctor to get maximum benefit.
What is Silver Nitrate?
This medication is used with other treatments to help prevent and treat wound infections in patients with serious burns. Silver sulfadiazine works by stopping the growth of bacteria that may infect an open wound. This helps to decrease the risk of the bacteria spreading to the surrounding skin, or to the blood where it can cause a serious blood infection (sepsis). Silver sulfadiazine belongs to a class of drugs known as sulfa antibiotics. Silver sulfadiazine must not be used on premature babies or on newborns during the first 2 months of life because of the risk of serious side effects.
What is Chlorhexidine?
Chlorhexidine belongs to a class of drugs known as antimicrobials. It works by decreasing the number of bacteria in the wounds.
