How does 0.025% Amorolfine cream work
Amorolfine 0.25% kills fungi and yeasts by interfering with their cell membranes. It works by stopping fungi from producing a substance called ergosterol, which is an essential component of fungal cell membranes. The disruption in production of ergosterol disrupts the cell membrane. The cell membranes of fungi are vital for their survival. They keep unwanted substances from entering the cells and stop the contents of the cells from leaking out. As amorolfine disrupts the cell membranes, it kills the fungal cells and treats the infection.
Fungicros cream (Generic Loceryl cream) is applied to the skin to treat a range of fungal skin infections caused by types of fungi known as dermatophytes. These include athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), ringworm (tinea corporis) and also pityriasis versicolor.
It is important to keep using the cream for three to five days after the symptoms of the infection have cleared up. This is to ensure that the infection is fully treated and thus prevent it coming back. In general, treatment should be continued for at least two to three weeks, but it may take up to six weeks of treatment to clear up athlete’s foot.
