At-Home Remedies for Reducing Facial Hair Growth

Unwanted facial hair is a common problem that many people face, particularly women. It can be caused by hormonal imbalances, genetics, or certain medical conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

While there are various ways to remove facial hair, such as waxing, threading, and laser treatments, these methods can be painful, time-consuming, and expensive. Fortunately, there are also several at-home remedies for reducing facial hair growth, which we are going to dive into.

Turmeric and milk

Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory agent, and it also has the ability to inhibit hair growth. When combined with milk, it can create a paste that can be applied to the face to reduce the growth of unwanted facial hair.

To make the paste, simply mix equal parts turmeric and milk until thick paste forms. Apply the paste to the face, and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

Sugar, lemon juice, and water

Sugar acts as a natural exfoliant, while lemon juice contains citric acid, which can help to lighten the hair and reduce its visibility.

To make the mixture, combine two tablespoons of sugar, two teaspoons of lemon juice, and 10 tablespoons of water in a saucepan. Heat the mixture until the sugar dissolves, and then allow it to cool.

Once cooled, apply the mixture to the face in the direction of hair growth, and then place a cloth strip on top. Pull the strip off in the opposite direction of hair growth to remove the hair.

The use of excessive facial inhibiting creams

Vaniqa cream is a prescription medication that is approved by the FDA to treat unwanted facial hair in women. It contains the active ingredient eflornithine, and it works by slowing down the growth of hair in the treated areas. Vaniqa cream is typically applied twice a day, and it may take up to four to six weeks to see results.

At OKDERMO, the home of beauty, health, and skin care, we recommend (and sell) Eflora cream (a reputable Vaniqa alternative). Also known as eflornithine, this is a medication specifically designed to slow down the growth of unwanted facial hair in women. It works by inhibiting an enzyme that is responsible for hair growth, which in turn reduces the rate at which hair grows.

Eflora cream is typically applied twice a day, and it may take up to eight weeks to see results. It is important to note that eflornithine is not a hair removal cream, and it will not permanently remove facial hair. However, it can be an effective solution for managing facial hirsutism and improving the appearance of the skin.
